WCM Funding Update
From James Lukose, Executive Director

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I share with you this update about the construction of our new building at Wayside Cross Ministries.

For over 5 years, with much prayer, and the skilled, experienced and faithful service of key individuals, WCM broke ground in September 2013 on the much needed new building at 215 East New York Street in Aurora. This replaces a 125+ year old building and will better serve the Lord’s work of transforming the lives of hurting men and prove to be a more cost efficient facility to operate.

Your generosity has made this happen. You have given to WCM because, in part, throughout our 85 year history of providing life transforming, Christ-centered and Bible-based ministry, we have avoided deficits and borrowing. This is a history of faithful stewardship. It is the Lord who has made all this possible.

When David rejoiced at the building of the temple, he acknowledged with humility that it was the Lord who had brought together the desire, resources and skilled servants to complete the project. David said, “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given to you.” (1 Chronicles 29:14)

The financial arrangements that made the beginning of construction possible involved timely grants and federal tax credits, as well as utilizing the reserved funds of WCM. Through your generosity and unique gifts the total cost of the building, $8.2 million dollars, was achieved. While WCM reached the goal of having all necessary funding in place to begin building, this effort involved utilizing reserve funds that are essential to maintain the story of faithful financial stewardship going forward.

With construction costs beginning to rise it was important to begin the project now in order to take advantage of lower costs and better employ the funds generously entrusted to WCM. It is our goal to replenish those funds in the coming year. The goal is $1.1 million dollars.

Would you consider a generous gift and become part of this historic time in the Lord’s work at Wayside Cross Ministries? It is important to complete the goal of $1.1 million dollars in order to continue the history of faithful stewardship. Please consider stretching your resources in generosity this year.
